More About This Artist...
Ruben Ireland is a graphic artist and illustrator based in London. Using a fusion of traditional techniques and digital processing he creates thoughtful, dreamlike images that carry emotional weight as well as a relevance to daily life. His tools include ink, acrylic, dirty water, foods, weathered paper as well as photoshop and a wacom table.
"I began studying fine art at Cirencester College, moving on to Stroud College and then studying illustration at Middlesex University where I mostly taught myself the ins and outs of photo-manipulation. Forming a private obsession with photography I felt uneasy about disregarding my earlier passion for art and illustration and so i spent a lot of time developing an approach to illustration that combines similar post processing involved with contemporary photography. It wasn't until I left University that I became interested fully in illustration again, and having learned what I learned began developing a style that would allow me to express mine and other peoples ideas in an interesting way.
"I've worked for A Future Without, Poolga and Odd Digital (yet to be released) and I've been selected for online galleries by Blik and Urban Outfitters. I've also been featured in BlackBook Magazine, a leading New York Magazine, Paper Darts Magazine in Minneapolis and have work showing In London and Los Angeles in March and May."
