Nik Ainley uses modern technology to apply a whole lot of science and a little bit of reason to image making. He gathers fragments of inspiration from dreams and the subconscious, daily life, his scientific background and stuff he reads off the back of cereal boxes. Squeezing these through his fingers into a computer allows these disparate pieces to be assembled into cohesive works. When not staring aimlessly into the sky, Nik can often be found chuckling at local wildlife or sleeping upside down.
Nik creates pictures for anyone who thinks with their eyes rather than their guts, digests with their brain and chews with their lymphatic system. That or anyone who gives him a nice enough smile.
As a designer and artist, Nik has been receiving more and more exposure, his work featuring in many magazines as well as on books, album covers, posters and clothing. He was listed as one of the "Top 10 up-and-coming creative talents of 2006" by Computer Arts magazine, and later as "The Computer Arts artist of the moment".
His work continues to inspire and amaze, more of his work can be seen at his website www.shinybinary.com
