Street Art
One of the liveliest of all genres Street Art comments back on the world it was created in. This is outdoors stuff that takes the mundane textures and surfaces of the city for its canvas and teases the viewer with in-jokes, secrets and political comment. When an artist works illegally and outside like this the location of the work can have just as much meaning as the image. Its physical substance can be as eclectic as its canvas, incorporating found objects, aerosol sprays, house paints, stickering, fly posters or even chalk. And It’s subject matter can range from the deeply personal to the provocatively political. Street Art is tough, brazen and rebellious by its very law-pushing nature, but it’s also ephemeral and fragile; at risk of being painted over or worn away almost as soon as it goes up. This vulnerability makes it highly desirable by collectors. Like all bandits and rebels street art is immensely cool and super sexy. Transferred to your home it will bring a flavour of the mad bad world beyond your door.
